Best image quality in a pocketable camera. The Sony RX-100 is the closest thing to a full-sized DSLR or ILC (interchangeable lens camera). Its 1-inch image sensor is four times the size of the image sensor in most smartphones, and 40% larger than the image sensor in the very best smartphones such as the Samsung s24 Ultra or iPhone 15 Pro Max. The larger sensor size means that much more light data goes into the camera, resulting in better detail, color, contrast, dynamic range. This particular model, the RX-100 Mark II, has a handy 28-100 mm focal range. It is an upgrade to the first model of the RX-100 in that it's image sensor utilizes a more advanced technology--Backside Illumination (BSI), which produces better dynamic range. This 2nd model also included a hot-shoe, which fits a removable electronic viewfinder (EVF), which I purchased separately, and comes with this camera. An EVF was built into the 3rd model of the RX-100, but it's EVF's resolution was 1.44 million dots, compared to 2.36 million dots in the EVF that comes with this camera, and was built into the 4th generation of the RX-100. The extra million dots means much finer and better resolution. There's no graininess in the image. Also, with the 3rd edition of the camera, the focal range changed to 24-70mm vs the 28-100mm range for this 2nd edition version. I have owned this RX-100 II for 6 months. I purchased it from a retired vet who took extremely good care of it. The camera was and is in almost-new condition. I purchased the separate Sony EV1MK -- electronic viewfinder with eyecup -- from the major used camera dealer, MPB (US/UK), and it is also in like-new condition. I have added the optional Sony AGR2 grip to the camera body, which allows a firmer grasp of this small unit. I am accustomed to taking photos with high-end digital cameras such as the Canon 5D Mark IV, Canon 6D and most recently the Canon R5. I also often use the top-of the-line Samsung S23 Ultra smartphone for quick photos. The photos from the RX-100 are far and away better than those from the Samsung, and surprisingly close in quality to that of my full size cameras. I was very happy to have it in my pocket in one night last winter when I attended a Vancouver Canucks game. They would not let me take my Canon camera with telephoto lens into the spectator area, so I relied on my smartphone and my Sony RX-100. When I got home and viewed the Sony files on my big screen, I realized that it had produced excellent photos. I have also found it very good for landscape photos. It has excellent depth of field, even better than a full sized camera, and lovely color rendition. For flowers, it's very wide max aperture of f/1.8 allows a nicely diffused background along with a sharp foreground subject. I attach sample photos taken with this camera. The camera comes with the EVF, as mentioned, a new charger and 2 new batteries, a simple nylon cloth cover, and the original box. The price is firm, as it reflects a significant loss on my part--I paid a total of $648 for the camera EVF, charger, batteries, and grip (not including shipping charges), just six months ago. Reason for sale: I have acquired a good quality camera satchel which has allowed me to create a lightweight carry-along setup with my full-sized mirrorless camera. So I no longer need this highly portable camera solution--much as I will miss it.
