23' eastern sea skiff built by the Eastern Sea Skiff Boat Company of New Jersey in 1962. This boat was constructed of Philippine mahogany in a contract yard in Hong Kong and delivered to Victoria late in 1962 and powered and steering gear installed in Nanaimo in 1963. The boat was removed from the water in 2003 to undergo an extensive overhaul over a 19 month period. Small repairs were completed to the hull and planking while the deck and superstructure were removed and new decks, coaming and trim were installed. The windshield and side curtains were repaired and reinstalled. The transom was reclad with Philippine mahogany and a new swim grid of Honduras mahogany was installed on the original bronze brackets. All electrical wiring was removed and replaced with Blue Sea wiring and components. The original Ford Interceptor 312 cu.in. V-8 was completely rebuilt, installed and aligned to the original stainless steel shaft and bronze prop. Starter, alternator and both water pumps were rebuilt and installed along with new FWC exhaust manifolds. The original bronze heat exchanger was flushed and reinstalled. All steering components were checked and left as good to go. A new pump system was installed to the original trim tabs. The boat is equipped with an onboard battery management system, an onboard corrosion management system and two electric bilge pumps. The gas tank was custom fabricated from fibreglass with a gas resistant gelcoat to the interior and holds approx. 45 imp. gals. and is located on the afterdeck in front of the transom. During the rebuild we strived to maintain as much of the original boat and its fittings as practical and responsible. The boat is registered in the Canadian Ships Registry and was entered in the Victoria Classic Boat Festival in the years 2005 and 2014 and on both occasions was awarded Best Open Powerboat in the show. A marine survey was conducted in 2014 and is available for inspection. PHOTOS FROM WHEN WE PURCHASED 1 YEAR AGO. BOAT NEEDS HULL PAINT AND HULL PREPPED TO GO BACK IN WATER.
