A short (16’ 6”), responsive yet fast tandem that's solo friendly. Purchased new in 2007 but not used since I moved to B.C. in 2015. Inevitably the hull has some scratching but has full integrity and no ‘starbursts’. Nowadays it would cost nearly $5,000 new. https://wenonah.com/Canoes.aspx?id=18. This Escapade is the Kevlar lay-up, which is no longer available. It is light at 50lbs, including the bow and stern protective keel strips and centre thwart that I had added. It defines efficiency and superb performance in one compact package. A good fit for average to smaller paddlers and people who prefer a shorter canoe without sacrificing speed. The ash kneeling thwart and pads were added to make it manoeuvrable when using as a solo. The 16’ 6” length is the perfect compromise for switching between solo and tandem paddling. Four accompanying paddles and a bear barrel with harness are also available at reasonable additional cost. DIMENSIONS Length 16' 6" (503cm); Gunwale Width 29.5" (75cm); Maximum Width 33.5" (85cm); Waterline Width 30" (76cm); Stern Depth 16" (40.5cm); Centre Depth 13.5" (34cm); Bow Depth 18.5" (47cm).
