Beginner’s Guide to Common Vancouver Island Birds, Volume 4 by Mike Yip Hardcover, 2020, 128 pages, signed by author. “Since there were no bird identification guides specifically for Vancouver Island I decided to produce one. I spent the whole winter putting it together and had it printed just before COVID 19. With the subsequent lockdown and slowdown I decided not to release the book during the summer. But, with the impending second wave I decided to get it on the market in late August. This book was produced mainly as an identification guide for the many non-birders who are simply interested in the birds they encounter in their every day life. I have spoken to many who have been using my previous photographic books for guides even though they weren't designed as guides, and that added more incentive to produce a proper, comprehensive, updated guide. With the visual learner in mind, this book features high quality photographs and descriptions of over 235 birds seen every year or almost every year on Vancouver Island. Most of the photos are mine except for several by Melissa Hafting and singles by Steve Large and Eric Ellingson.” See pictures Pickup in Langford Cross posted
