This impressionistic landscape signed and dated 1938 in the lower right hand corner by Canadian listed artist Charles Walter Simpson is in nice shape for it’s age. However it does have some minor paint loss and could very much use a cleaning. Framed in a period frame and measuring 17.25 inches in height x 21 inches in width. Beginning in January 1918, he served with Canadian forces in the First World War. Simpson came to the attention of Lord Beaverbrook, who arranged for him to be commissioned as an "official war artist" along with Frederick Varley, J.W. Beatty and Maurice Cullen.
