Big Little Books and Better Little Books (1932-1949) Very collectible series of books. "Red Ryder and the Outlaw of Painted Valley" (1943) Better Little Book #1475 Hard cover. Standard size: 3 5/8" x 4 1/2" x 1 1/2"; 250 pages. Author/Artist: Fred Harman. Condition: Very Fine - previous owner's name lightly penciled on inside of front page. Cover corners slightly curved inwards. Cover crisp with high level of sheen and good colors with slight creasing and wear marks on top right corner. No loose pages. After the first Big Little Book, "The Adventures of Dick Tracy", was published (December 1932), numerous titles were sold through Woolworth's and other retail store systems during the 1930s. With a name change to Better Little Books during 1938, the series continued into the 1960s.
