Napier brutalist (gold plated pendant) necklace. Absolutely stunning, this is one of Napier's most imaginative and edgy Modernist beauties, the iconic 'Molten Gold Collection'. The '72 brutalist enamel pendant is highlighted by glittering gilt flecks throughout, inviting light play and striking abstract cut-outs. The back is richly gold plated, it simulates molten metal with organically formed open areas in a tear-drop shape. Measures: 3 1/8 inches by 2 3/4 inches and the chunky rope chain 31" total length. Shows no wear; near new condition. This scarce piece was designed by the late Eugene Bertolli for the Napier Company. Bertolli was a renowned fine art sculptor and also an accomplished goldsmith and silversmith. Bertolli became highly acclaimed for Jewelry design with numerous awards.
