Very cool vintage Coat of Arms shield from Toledo Spain, Red velvet with black eagle in background..Center has big emblem with 6 removable miniature swords..3 different styles. The double headed eagle and crown was the heraldic crest for Byzantine Emperor, John VIII Palaiologos and often represented Empress Theodora. Double headed eagles often represent the notion of empire. Very good condition. Approx Size of Shield (not including Halberd) Height 7 1/2" Width 5 3/4"
