$200 · Antique Refurbished Steamer Trunk - Coffee Table

This chest was owned by a man in Duncan BC for many years and it then switched hands until I came across it. I bought it for a fun project, and that it was! I cleaned, sanded and applied coatings to all of the canvas and wood. I also applied a protective coating to the brass and metal detailing. I removed all of the moldy wallpaper that was inside and applied a coating of varnish to remove the previous mildew odour from the wallpaper glue. This chest is now nose friendly, looks pretty and makes for a nice extra surface as a coffee table, or just for decoration. As well, it makes room for 212 L of storage space inside. The chest is 3' wide, 20" deep and 21" tall. The latches work very well, and the lock is perfectly Broken so that you can click it closed and then click it back open as you please. I tried to research when it was made but I couldn't find a specific date, although the design and lock system seemed to have been popular in the very early 1900's. Text or email if you are interested!
