Offered for sale this framed watercolour on paper signed by Canadian listed artist Mary Margueite Porter Zwicker. This East Coast Canadian coastal landscape is signed M. Zwicker in the bottom left hand corner. Mary Zwicker was a Canadian list artist born in 1904 and passing in 1993. She has exhibited in Royal Canadian Academy of Arts, and made Nova Scotia her home and artistic passion. The painting measurements are 10 x 13.25 inches and framed in a painted black wooden frame that measures 17.5 x 20.5 inches. The matting and frame could easily be changed, and does show signs of discolouration on the mat, and some minor scratches in the frame. Please contact me with any questions. Biography Mary Marguerite Porter Zwicker Known for her scenes of Nova Scotia villages and landscapes rendered in watercolours, Marguerite Zwicker was an active promoter of art in and around Halifax. Her education took place at the Nova Scotia College of Art and in the United States under the German-American Abstract Expressionist painter, Hans Hofmann, whom she greatly admired. A teacher of painting at Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, Zwicker also conducted painting and cultural tours in Spain, Italy and Portugal.
