$150 · DIY low-power NAS build
Was using this as a DIY NAS build (xpenology) until I upgraded. Fractal Design Node 304 (holds 6x 3.5" drives) Asrock Q1900-ITX (onboard J1900 quad core, passive cooled) 8GB DDR3-1600 Antec Earthwatts 430w power supply No HDDs included With 4x HDDs this consumed just under 20 watts at idle and was nearly silent CPU isn't strong enough for VMs or transcribing, but it will handle NAS and light docker tasks all day
