The Community Recreation Coordinator is responsible for the planning, implementation and evaluation of new and ongoing community programs and special events for the Burnside Gorge Community Centre. This position is also responsible for the direct management of Youth Centre programs, unlicensed seasonal camps and community school programming at Tillicum School. This includes supervision, oversight of program development and implementation as well as financial responsibility for program budgets. As a member of the Management Team, the Recreation Coordinator provides input and feedback to the creation and updating of BGCA policies and procedures.
University degree or diploma in Recreation Management or other related fields
A minimum of three years programming and special events planning experience
Management experience an asset
Standard First Aid certificate
Class 4 Drivers License an asset
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and registration software are assets
Familiarity with the Youth Program Quality Assurance tool is an asset
In addition, the ideal candidate will contribute to a team-focused work environment, working collaboratively across departments to best meet the needs of those we serve
Contract Term & Hours
Temporary, four-month contract. This position is 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with some evenings and weekends required.
