The fleece and fibre fairs have all been cancelled this year, and by now some of you must be in need of more fleece for your spinning, felting and knitting projects. Consider Icelandic fleece. I have a beautiful array of natural coloured fleeces - white, dark black/brown, golden brown, heather brown, heather grey. Both lamb and adult fleeces available. Lamb fleeces are very fine but weigh less, adult fleeces are not as soft as lamb fleece but weigh more. Or separate the tog and the thel (the outer and inner fleece), for separate projects. The thel has diameter on par with merino wool and is used in Iceland for baby clothes. Staple length is 6 to 11 in. Some examples pictured - many more available. Icelandics are shorn twice a year - these are the summer fleeces - April to September, so are quite clean. Skirted by Pieter at time of shearing. Icelandic fleece are low in lanolin so weigh much less than regular fleece, but also lose less weight during washing. These fleeces have not been washed. Pick up is fine - wear mask please.
