Here is a very unusual old Bonsai bowl/pot. Well over fifty years of age, it probably originated in China. The vintage piece measures 7.5" X 6" X 3" high. The colour is a rare taupe/beige neutral, with significant grey crackling lines. The shiny glaze rises from the bottom edge to include the inverted and sculpted top rim of the bowl. The inside, bottom, and legs of the container are unglazed. The outside walls of the vessel are incised with vertical lines to simulate the petals of the Lotus flower. Skillful placement of these lines has created ridges rising from the bottom to the top rim. And the walls appear three dimensional. The whole bowl becomes the flower blossom. There is an incised mark on the bottom of one of the feet, but I'm unable to decipher it. A drainage hole has been drilled through the bottom of the piece. This is a special sculpted pot/bowl, and would be a great addition to any Bonsai container collection. Please call 250 658-0587 to view - asking $65.
