Up for sale is this vintage MIJ set of Pearl Maple Shell drums. Design of the drums, the hardware and the badges seem to date the drums to 1982 or 1983. The bass and three toms have 8 ply cross laminated maple shells. Specifically, we have: 22" x 14" bass drum with inlaid wood hoops. Lugs, tension rods and claws, tom mount and spurs all appear to be original. Some slight tom rash on the top of the shell, but the wrap is still totally intact. Remo Powerstroke 3 batter and what appears to be the original Pearl response head. 16" x 16" floor tom, with all original hardware (including internal muffler) and legs, DW/ Remo batter head and Evans Ebony response head. 14" x 12" suspended tom, with all original hardware (including internal muffler). Remo Emperor batter head and Evans Ebony response head. 13" x 11" suspended tom with all original hardware (including internal muffler). DW/ Remo batter head and Evans Ebony response head. 14" x 6.5" contemporary steel shell snare drum, with Gladstone style strainer. All the hardware looks to be original, although the internal muffle is missing, and snare wires are later replacement. I am selling as a shell pack, without hardware, but including two Pearl tom arms. One is original early Uni Lock style; the other is a modern geared replacement. If you need hardware, I do have some stands and pedals for sale, although none of it is Pearl. The drums are generally very clean, with only a few marks to the wine red wrap finish, to be expected from a set over 35 years old. I would give the set an overall 8.5 out of 10. If you are looking for a vintage set of maple drums you can't go far wrong with these. The drums sound amazing! Asking $550 OBO. I am in Nanaimo but will meet a serious buyer north of the Malahat.
