Volunteer with honorarium driver for the Good Food Box

Fernwood Neighbourhood Resource Group is looking for a reliable and motivated person to deliver Good Food Boxes to partner community centres across Victoria. This position is Wednesday at noon, and requires a small cube truck or van. The Good Food Box is a non-profit alternative fruit and vegetable distribution system. Every Wednesday, a crack team of volunteers packs hundreds of Good Food Boxes for individuals and non-profit organizations from Sooke to Sidney. The Good Food purchases quality produce and ensures variety, freshness and affordability. We prioritize locally grown, unsprayed produce with a focus on seasonal fruits and vegetables. The program relies heavily on the support of volunteers to keep Good Food Box prices low to ensure everyone has access to fresh fruits and veggies. Duties Our Agency Driver is responsible for delivering anywhere between 75-150 Good Food Boxes to community centres in Greater Victoria each week. Qualifications and Requirements * Professional, responsive, and positive. * Experience working or volunteering with non-profit agencies is an asset. * Have a valid Class 5 Driver's license. * Have your own reliable truck (covered/with canopy) or large van to accommodate up to 150 grocery bags. * Have valid third-party liability coverage, with at least a $2,000,000 for Vans, a copy will be requested for our records. * A clean driver's abstract - easily downloaded from ICBC's website. * The successful candidate will need to complete a Criminal Record Check for people working with vulnerable adults and children. Schedule The Good Food Box is packed Wednesday morning and delivered around noon. Working Conditions * Ability to lift up to 30lbs (often) * Ability to crouch, bend, twist, and stand (often) * Ability to work independently and as part of a team * Ability to drive their own van or truck (often) Honorarium We can offer an honorarium for fuel, vehicle wear and tear, and time.
