When my hubby convinced me to let the dogs up on the bed, there was no going back. The comfort of their gentle snoring, warm weight along our sides or feet and morning cuddles made our lives more love-filled and deeply satisfying. One girlie could leap up and the other could not so he built these magnificent stairs. The solid side is there for support as well as safety and security, as many doggies do not like an open drop to the ground from a height. As they got older and had more mobility issues, that side was all the more important :-). Now we have a blind doggie who prefers to curl up in her own nest so we have no need of them. They have a grip strip on each step and leveling feet. A 90kg person can walk up and down the stairs and the unit doesn't flex or move.
