We are looking for a Live-In Caregiver to help with the care for my mother who has a brain illness (frontal-temporal dementia). She is a petite and kind lady who appreciates the people in her life, she will certainly benefit from increased exercise and mental stimulation of another person in the home dedicated to her care and well-being. We are doing our best to keep Mama out of the nursing homes and here at home for the best care possible. The ideal candidate will: - Live with us and assist with the care needs of my mother. Working approximately 40 hours per week, being flexible based on other house member's availability and ever-changing care needs. Let's discuss this in person should the other aspects of the posting interest you. - Be comfortable and experienced with the personal hygiene and care required. Including but not limited to assisting in the washroom, changing clothes, help bathing, and partial feeding. Realizing this is regressive illness and things related to care will be continually modifying. - Okay walking for periods of 60-90 minutes, as that is a key recommendation of her doctors - Willing to play mind stimulation games such as the Tactus Therapy App, Audio Books, Games, general conversation, etc. - Be a mature female with experience working with Seniors, enjoy doing activities geared toward seniors (reading, older TV shows and music, etc.) - Have a positive upbeat demeanor, patient and kind by nature - Ideally will feel like a friendship for both parties - We live on a beautiful street in the Saxe-Point area of Esquimalt by the base, one block from the 15 and 26 bus routes and one block from the water.
