Instructor - Licensed Care

AUXILIARY JOB OPPORTUNITY (This is a Union position) POSTING #2021-18 INSTRUCTOR - LICENSED CARE PADDINGTON STATION DAYCARE AND PRE-SCHOOL PLAYHOUSE PROGRAM This is a recreation position for an Instructor in our licensed care programs, Paddington Station Daycare at the Neighbourhood Learning Centre and Preschool Playhouse at Windsor Park Pavilion. Under the direction of the Daycare Supervisor and Community Recreation Programmer of Licensed Care, the Instructors will help plan, prepare and implement creative and stimulating programs for children ages 3-5 years. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Plan, supervise and lead Daycare and preschool programs; * Work within Community Care Facilities Licensing Board regulations; * Plan and implement a daily schedule of activities suitable for children 3-5 years of age; * Adhere to all safety guidelines and standards; * Ensure program areas are kept clean and well-maintained at all times; * Work with children, parents/guardians, staff and public in a warm and friendly manner. QUALIFICATIONS: * Applicant must be a minimum of 19 years of age; * Assistant Early Childhood Educator (ECE A) and/or Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Certificate from a recognized post-secondary institute (and licensed to practice in BC); * Must meet Island Health licensing requirements to work with the relevant age group; * CPR-C and Emergency First Aid; * Experience instructing pre-schoolers in a child care/recreational environment; * Provision of a current Criminal Record check. RATE OF PAY: $20.69-$21.71 per hour plus $2.90 -$3.04 per hour in lieu of benefits. HOURS: Please see posting on our website for details regarding schedules.
