Increase Your Employability Skills Through Volunteering!

Increase Your Employability Skills Through Volunteering! image 1

*PLEASE NOTE* Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, the VDRC is offering our services remotely while remaining closed to the public. As a result, opportunities for volunteer work are presently limited. We would still encourage you to apply at this time, as we are actively working on developing new opportunities for our volunteers during the shutdown, as well as preparing for when we will eventually reopen our doors. Thank you for your understanding. * * * * Are you eager for an opportunity to learn and practice office skills for future employment? Are you interested in working in a fun, light-hearted environment with lots of wonderful people? Are you looking for a way to contribute and give back to the persons with disabilities community? If so, then consider registering with the Volunteer Skills Development Program at the Victoria Disability Resource Centre! The VDRC aims to promote the independence of persons living with all forms of disabilities, and at the heart of this are our wonderful volunteers. The Volunteer Skills Development Program offers a wide range of opportunities for individuals to help with the daily operations of our organization and, in the process, develop valuable skills and practices that many prospective employers look for in job applicants. Positions currently being filled by volunteers include front desk reception, parking placard sales desks, administrative assistance, IT support, computer tutoring, and information and referral services. All these positions provide valuable experience in customer service and gaining knowledge of community resources. There will be plenty of opportunity to develop crucial office skills, such as data entry and file management, as well as practice utilizing several Microsoft Office programs, namely Excel and Access Database. You may even have some of your own ideas on how you would like to volunteer and we are always open to exploring new and innovative ideas. If you're interested in signing up for the Volunteer Skills Development Program, please check us out at http://drcvictoria.com/volunteer/ or contact us: Christopher Wooding Volunteer Coordinator Victoria Disability Resource Centre 817 A Fort Street, Victoria
