Prairie needs a home in a rural setting, such as a well fenced in acreage. While fostering her in Nanaimo we have learned city life is not for this gal! Here is a bit of info about Prairie: Prairie is a 5 year old Belgian Malinois X, 40 pounds, she is tiny but bursting with energy! She does require exercise, this is where the fenced in acreage would be best, she CAN'T be off leash yet. A secure 5+ foot fence is best (she can jump high! When worked up she tries to escape at times). Prairie is good at chilling inside with you at home, lying at your feet while you do work, etc, she LOVES to be near her people, and will sleep away most of the day doing this. Prairie is reactive to bicycles, dogs & could possibly have a high prey drive but we have not tested this, she gets very excited when things move quickly. She barks, whines and seems to want to get to said thing that is causing her to react. However we know she is NOT aggressive with other dogs so far, she can be good with them given a proper/slow introduction. After enough time she will usually become pals/play with other dogs that first caused her to react. She is good with all kinds of humans, good with kids too, there is a chance she could become excited around little kids who run quickly around her. I've introduced her to many strangers and she has done exceedingly well! Prairie has separation anxiety, which will need work. She would love to be in a home with another human who is there often or someone that can incorporate them into their work day, also another dog at home would be great. Prairie is overall an incredible girl who is very loving and affectionate, she LOVES to cuddle and is quite playful. She is very smart and responsive to training when she is not distracted by the things in the outside world that cause her to react, she may require an owner experienced in training. She is house trained and knows a few commands, she knows what "NO" means, but she will require some work on leash walking skills as she pulls. She does love to patrol the fence also, she is VERY alert at all times. Prairie really is a great dog, who would be a very loving companion in the right home setting! Prairie is available through CAARE Rescue (see link), please be in touch with them or myself if interested.
