Wonderful vintage Dennis Curry Elephant etching on glass with shadow box style frame. From the 1970's Lucid Lines Inc. collection. Elephants are magnificent, fascinating animals. This is a beautiful piece for anyone who loves them. I would say anyone who knows anything about elephants loves them! And if you don't know much, there is a wealth of information online. The original signed etchings were photographically reproduced on glass by Lucid Lines using a dye transfer process. This image of "Elephant" from 1974 is printed on the reverse side of glass and suspended over a recessed natural ash backboard. This gives it an almost 3D look and feel. The beautiful grain of the wood compliments the image (see photo of backside of this). The whole piece is framed in shadow box fashion with a beautiful layered wood frame of stained and lacquered dark pine. The frame has incised lines and distressing that also compliment the image. See closeup images provided. The image area is 11.25 inches wide by 14.5 inches high. The image on the glass is rimmed with a narrow brown border outlined in black that emphasizes the elephant. The entire piece measures approximately 24.25 inches high, 21.25 inches wide, and 2 inch deep. Difficult to photograph, really needs to be seen to be fully appreciated! The frame itself is exceptional and although it would be a shame to do so :), could easily be repurposed for your own art. Such a frame would be very expensive! This piece is in excellent condition, with no damage to the glass, and NO wear to the wood frame. There is a sawtooth picture hanger on the back. From nonsmoking pet-free home.
