Okay, so this one has a bit of a story. Best top up your coffee for this.....okay, here we go. This guitar started life as one of the original run of Chapman ML2 guitars. They were designed to be made with the emphasis on quality in things that couldn't be changed. Tone woods, fretboard, frets, etc. But were sold with lower cost hardware. They originally sold for about $800, so that the price was reasonable and those that wanted could do their own mods. So we started with a 2 piece mahogany body, maple neck (12" radius), ebony fretboard and what feels like medium jumbo frets. The frets may be stainless as I can see zero wear. And then the person who bought it went to town. They changed the wiring, pots, and capacitor. The nut looks upgraded. The tuners have been swapped to Grover's. And finally, the pickups are from a boutique winder in Corado called BG. All in approx $500 in parts, plus labour. So, when I bought the guitar I couldn't believe what a great playing and great sounding guitar it was. The neck was amazing. Great fretwork, so you could get the action nice and low without buzzing. The frets board edges hadn't been rolled. So I spent hours carefully doing that. The guitar would have been perfect, but for one thing. It was bottom heavy. I play sitting down and it just sat funny in my lap. But I liked the guitar so much I came up with a desperate solution. I decided to cut away some of the body to shed some weight. And that it did. The guitar now sits just fine. But, it looks a little DIY. But I guess the bad news for me is that now that I am selling it, I have to recognize that although it made it a better guitar, my moding the body will have a negative effect on the price. So if there is someone out there that can overlook this flaw, here is fantastic guitar for not much cash.
